So I'm in Buenos Aires now for ten more days, I'm kind of excited to get back home. Especially since yesterday four of us were trying to walk to La Boca, a neighborhood that in retrospect is really bad but has one touristy street (which is where we were trying to get) and to keep this short I got mugged, it was scary, there were at least three guys, one hugged me and made me fall to the ground and then they started grabbing my purse so I kind of fought them for a while (which was probably not a wise thing to do) and then I thought that they might be armed and so I let it go. The third guy was running behind Ben, Michelle, and Tiffany with a knife to keep them away. So yeah, now I've lost my camera, my drivers license, my Italian ID card (which I can only get a new one in Italy so that will have to wait until December), my purse, and my mom's ancient phone (it's from the 90s). In the end it's not really what I've lost (though I am rather upset about my license, camera, and purse) as much as just the shock that it happened, it was scary. The police chased after them and saw where they entered but there were a lot of apartments and we're in Argentina so they didn't do anything. Then they took us to the police station where they had us all leave statements but I don't think they're ever going to find anything.

I suppose the only funny part of the whole incident was the policeman at the station who started talking to Ben about the four beautiful girls outside and tried to get our phone numbers from him, askedhim whether we had novios (boyfriends), to which Ben answered yes, and in the end Ben was able to end the discussion saying "son todas mias" as in "they're all mine" hahahahaha!!!!

So yesterday I went to my first wedding of people close to my age, the bride was 20 and the groom 21....I feel old! There is that feeling of wow, that could be me in a few years. Then we went to a graduation party of one of Nick's friends who just graduated high school and somehow I managed to continue feeling old, even though I'm the same age as all the others...college does change you quite a bit.

Anyways, congratulations to all the new graduates!!!

1) I got into the business school .... now I'm unsure what to do
2) I got the add code for the honors class I wanted - Ways of meaning: Universal and Culture Specific Aspects of Language which should be interesting, I'm starting my 4th language next year - God help me!

Anyways, I'm exhausted but really happy :)

Nothing has changed really since the last time I updated here...SIS (international studies) continues to assign a ridiculous amount of reading and homework, which I should be doing right now but I'm just so tired...on the bright side I promised Nick that I would never take an SIS class again and I'm probably going to keep it.

I'm thinking of majoring in informatics now, which is kind of like computer science but less technical. It will probably still take me 5 years to graduate though since I want to continue taking Spanish and I'm starting Russian next year, what can I say, languages are important to me. And I still haven't heard back from the business school which means that if I get in I'll proably be kind of happy but still not do it and if I don't get in I will be mad even though I don't want to major in business....isn't that silly?

I might be going to Russia for Christmas =D The plan is to go to Milan for about a week around Christmas time and then Nick and I would fly to Moscow and also go visit St. Petersburg so yay.

So they posted the grades for winter quarter and my gpa went up (by .01)!! It's not much but considering that I've been spending a bit less time studying this quarter I thought it was going to go down. so yay! I got 3.9 in english and spanish (I was hoping for a 4.0 in these classes but oh well) and a 3.8 in econ (which is actually higher than I expected) so overall I'm really happy.

So, I'm finally on break (since Thursday but I didn't have a lot of time in the past few days). We get the grades on the 24th (dun dun dun) but I already know that I got a 3.9 (out of 4) in Spanish, which is okay but I was really hoping for a 4.0. Here is a tip if you want to take Spanish at UW: don't forget to do Quia! It's easy to do but even easier to forget!
Nick is leaving for Germany today, he's only staying there a week but he's coming back on Sunday = the day before Spring quarter starts...uffa. Most of my friends from UW are going back home for the break so I'm basically all alone.
Next week I'm going to apply to the business school, even though I'm not sure that it's what I want to major in, and Friday was the deadline for the honors scholarships but I really did not have time, these past few weeks have been crazy!
Essentially the only good thing that's going to come out of this break is a couch for the family room, at least it won't be as uncomfortable in the evening.

I am moving today - as in last night I slept in Sammamish and tonight I'm sleeping in Kirkland, I think of all the times we've moved this is the one in which I have helped out the least, what can I say I'm at the u for 12 hours a day basically! I've also decided on my schedule for winter quarter, I'll take:
1) Spanish 203
2) Intro to Macroeconomics (ECON 201)
3) SIS 202 - whose title is something like cultural interactions in an interdependent world or something - I'm in the honors section!!!

and I might take a seminar because I have 29 credits without counting this quarter so if I get to 30 maybe at some point I'll be able to register with the people who are 1 year ahead (I think)

So I am officially halfway through winter quarter and my first year of college, time passes so quickly! I'm very tired, but still enjoy college much more than high school, and now I can start planning what classes I'm going to take next quarter. I'm thinking of doing
1) Spanish 203
2) ECON 201 = macroeconomics
3) Honors class (maybe SIS 201 for honors credit) although honestly I wouldn't mind taking an H A&S class instead, maybe one for science credit

Then tomorrow I have the interview for Argentina, hopefully I'll get in, the only disadvantage to going is that I'll turn 18 there so away from my friends and family...anyways, I have to go because class is starting!
